Cavedog Running

I hadn't planned on running a race today, but I was sitting at work Tuesday and I got an itch to race this weekend. After looking through the listings, I saw that the Beach to Bayou at Howard Park in Tarpon Springs was today. Perfect!! A good race and a day out with the family.

We arrived at the beach area of Howard park just before sunrise and was treated to a gorgeous sunrise shortly after. The weather was fantastic for being this late in March with nice temperature and the breeze wasn't too strong coming from the east which provided a little tail wind for the last mile.

I finished with a time of 18:47 which was good for 3rd overall and received award for 2nd overall because the guy in front of me won the master's division. Today's time, was my 2nd fastest 5K.

I actually ran a race as planned again! I held myself back from starting too quick and actually ran negative splits. I clocked my fasted last mile ever running just under a 6 minute mile.

The race was well very well run. The course was beautiful and fast. Awards were different. They gave out t-shirts instead of medals or trophies.

Funny moment of the day was the Chic-Fil-A cow who for some reason lined up in front of me to go off running we started. Thankfully, Jenny has no evidence of me pushing the cow out of the way. At least I didn't make him face-plant!!
